Environmental Awareness |
ONGC Himalayan Association (ONGCHA),
Assam Chapter in association with “NEST Foundation” carried out an
environmental awareness drive at Desangmukh on 29th June, 2013 where
almost all the senior executives of ONGC, Assam Asset including the Executive
Director – Asset Manager participated in the program. On the other hand,
members of All India Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Employees Welfare
Association (AISCSTEWA), Assam also joined the program.
Tree plantation and lectures on environmental awareness were conducted respectively at #DS-3 site, Desangmukh High School and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Junior College, Desangmukh premises. Walkathon along the bank of the river Desang at Desangmukh was also conducted successfully as the part of the program for spreading environmental awareness.

The drive was started at the ONGC
site #DS-3 located at Desangmukh. Inaugurating the program, Executive
Director-Asset Manager, ONGC, Assam Asset plated sampling at the #DS-3 where
other senior executives also including Surface Manager, Head Well Services,
Head Finance, Head Central Workshop, Head HR-ER, Head Medical Services, Head
Asset Health Safety and Environment and some other dignitaries of Assam Asset
took part in tree plantation. In the tree plantation program at #DS-3, a large
number of school students from Desangmukh High School were also participated.

Further, the Executive Director-Asset
Manager visited Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Junior College located at Desangmukh and
planted sampling in the premises of the College. Addressing the gathering, he
emphasized on importance of education and personal development. He further advised
the student folk not to misuse time on some gadgets like mobile phone which
only can hamper the studies.
A walkathon along the bank of the river
Desang was organized from AAAS Rest House, Desangmukh for
creation of environmental awareness among the people living river side. At the concluding schedule of the day long
program, all participating members sailed for a river cruise on the Desang
river from the AAAS Rest House to the point where the river Desang and the mighty
Brahmaputra joins together unfolding the green ONGCHA flag spreading message of preservation of river dolphin which is important for ecological balance and fortunately dolphins were seen during the course of cruise.
