ONGCHA-Assam Chapter organized Trekking Expedition at Eaglenest


ONGCHA Team at Eaglenest, Arunachal Prardesh
ONGC Himalayan Association, Assam Chapter organized and completed successfully another feat of Trekking Expedition at Eaglenest, Arunachal Pradesh. This trekking expedition programme was organised in inter-regional basis where members from other regions of ONGC Himalayan Association were participated. A host of 13 ONGCHA members participated in this Trekking Expedition, out of which 6 members were from Assam Chapter. ONGCHA members made possible this trekking expedition overcoming all hurdles of wooded steep slopes of Eagnenest.

Popularly it is known as Eaglenest or Eagle’s Nest Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1989 which is located in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, India. This wildlife is near Bomdila with 0-280C and it coordinates 27°06′N 92°24′E / . This Himalayan sanctuary conjoins with Sessa Orchid Sanctuary to the northeast and Pakhui Tiger Reserve across the Kameng river to the east. / 27.1; 92.4Altitude ranges extremely from 500 metres (1,640 ft) to 3,250 metres (10,663 ft).

Eaglenest is a prime birding site as it is an abode of some extraordinary variety and numbers of bird species. It is popular because its accessibility. This Eaglenest derives its name from Red Eagle Division of the India army which was posted in the area in the year 1950.
